We review the third film in the rebooted X-Men universe. Apocalypse recieved mix reviews from critics, but Gabriel believes it's worth another look.

Great direction from returning director Bryan Singer, excellent performances and a unique villain make this a very solid entry into the franchise.

We've been waiting to review these films since before we even began the podcast. In this episode we finally get around to looking the first film in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy.
The common notion on the internet seems to be that "the Hobbit movies suck!". We completely disagree, not only do we believe these to be good films, we believe the they are very faithful to Tolkien's books and mythology.

Today, we review a one of the more forgotten films in director Richard Linklater's filmography.
Bernie is a brilliant satrical black comedy based on a true story. Very funny and featuring what is likely Jack Black's finest performance.

In this episode we look at our first animated film, Dreamworks 2010 release, Megamind!
A bit of a surprise from the fairly hit or miss studio, Megamind is a genuinely hilarious, clever and often forgotten gem.
One host even believes it might just be one of the most quotable films of all time.

A really fun discussion on a much lighter film than usual.

For our tenth episode we go though each of our top ten favorite films of all time.

The episode is a bit longer than we were planning, but it's a great conversations and we didn't want to shortchange any of these great films.

In our very first minisode, Gabriel reviews both the classic 1960 film and the 2016 remake.
He enjoys both but favors the Antoine Fuqua remake a bit more.

In episode 9, hosts Gabriel and James once again find themselves in disagreement over the overall quality of the film as they discuss Christopher Nolan's 2014 space epic Interstellar.
James loves the movie to the point of calling it a near masterpiece, whereas Gabriel finds that, the films leaps in logic and out of left field final act keep it from the ambitious heights director Christopher Nolan was reaching for.
They both agree, however, that the film contains moments of breathtaking genius that make it worth viewing, regardless of your final opinion.


Main Review: 12:05

Today we go back to visionary director Peter Jackson's very first Hollywood film. The Frighteners is a very underrated dark comedy that unfortunately bombed on it's release due to poor marketing.
It also features Michael J. Fox's last leading role in a feature film.

We both think it's a lot of fun and definitely worth a second look.

There may be some disagreement between the hosts on this film...
Today we review the second film the the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
While nearly everyone agrees that Curse of the Black Pearl is great, there are a lot of mixed feelings on the sequels.
James loves the film, but Gabe isn't convinced it's a great film, but both agree it's a lot of fun!

This week we review what may well be director Alex Proyas' best film.
It's an old favorite of Gabriel's but James had not seen it before and really enjoyed it as well.
We both agree it's a much better film than initial critical reaction would have you think.

In Episode 5, we review what will most likely be the most controversial film of 2016, Zack Snyder’s incredibly divisive follow up to Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In this episode, we discuss the many things that this film gets right, such as it’s cast, score and visuals, and how we both appreciate the themes and ideas explored in the film that are rarely present in other comic book movies.

Because it is closer to the directors original vision, it is the Ultimate Edition we will be discussing. If you haven’t seen this edition, you should give it a shot and we hope you enjoy this episode.

In Episode 4 we go to a galaxy far, far away to review one of the films from of the dreaded Prequel Trilogy.
We believe the third and final episode of said trilogy is actually a decent film that is fully worthy of the title, Star Wars.

It's a fun discussion where we praise what Lucas got right, acknowledge some things he got really, really wrong, and just take what we hope is a balanced and objective view of this passionately hate film.

We apologize for some of the audio issues, they will hopefully be resolved by next episode.

In Episode 3 we review Christopher McQuarrie's 2012 action thriller, Jack Reacher starring Tom Cruise.

We briefly discuss the recent western, Hell or High Water and discuss McQuarrie's filmography before diving into the main review.

In our very first episode, Gabriel and James discuss the deeply controversial 2013 film, Man of Steel.
We both love it!
We open with our initial reactions before giving an in depth review detailing what we love, and a few things we dislike about this latest stab at the Superman mythology.
We also discuss and answer several popular criticisms of the film as well as partially agreeing with a few of them ourselves.
